We changed the name of the '"nickname" field to "preferred name" on a client's information page. The preferred name field is now used for email appointment reminders, client portal invitations and password reset emails instead of using their legal name when something has been entered there.

For example, if you invited Ben to the client portal the email he will receive will be addressed to Ben, not Benjamin. Same goes for an email appointment reminders and password reset emails.
If you have been using the 'nickname" field for something other than the client's name you should discontinuing that practice as soon as possible.
